Review: Queen Helene Royal Curl Line

A little while ago, I was given the opportunity to try out and review a new line of products from the brand Queen Helene.  It is their new Royal Curl line designed for those with wavy/curly hair.  As you may be able to tell from the pictures on my blog, I have very thick and naturally wavy hair.  So, I am always excited to find new products to try to keep it healthy and looking pretty.  The line consists of a "Stay Clean Shampoo," "Moisture Rich Conditioner, " "Curl Smoothing Oil," and "Curl Shaping Crème."  Something I found interesting about this line is that it is all natural and does not contain any harsh chemicals such as sulfates, alcohol, petrolatum, parabens, or phthalates.  These products contain royal jelly, which you may have learned in elementary school, is the nutrient filled food that workers bees feed the queen bee in the bee hive!  It contains a lot of stuff that is good for your hair like amino acids and vitamins.  I've been using these products for about two weeks and here's my thoughts on them.

First, the Stay Clean Shampoo and Moisture Rich Conditioner both have a really clean, fresh scent that stays on your hair, keeping it smelling good for a while, which of course, I love.  The shampoo lathers nicely and left my hair feeling clean, pretty much did what a shampoo usually does, so I like it.

The Moisture Rich Conditioner can be used as a wash-out conditioner or a leave-in, depending on your hair and which you prefer.  I washed it out as I usually do with regular conditioner.  It made my hair feel a slightly smoother and did help detangle it a bit, but it's not one of my favorite conditioners I've used.  It just didn't leave my hair feeling as nice as it has before with other conditioners, but that's just me, it depends on your hair, I guess.

The Curl Shaping Cream is my favorite product from this line.  I applied it to wet hair and I love the way it made my waves/curls look when my hair dried.  It doesn't make your hair crunchy like some gels do, my hair was soft, shiny, and manageable, and not too poofy.

The last product, the Curl Smoothing Oil, hydrates your hair and smooths out frizz, which is great!  It also make your hair very shiny...be careful not to use too much or put too much at the top of your head, because it gets a little greasy, but that's probably just because I tend to use a lot of product due to my long thick hair.  Use a small amount and it works great.  It also claims to protect your hair from heat and humidity, which is great, but I'd still use a heat protection spray when using heat on my hair anyway.

That's it for my review.  For more information on the Royal Curl line of products and where you can buy them, please visit www.queenhelene.com (you can check where they are sold in stores near you using the "Where to Buy" link on their site).

P.S. I was sent the products mentioned in this post for consideration by Beautystat.com
but obviously this review is my own opinion.
